Context

For years, Visiva has promoted — through social channels, newsletters and dedicated initiatives — the portal lanostraStoria.ch, created to build a shared history of Italian-speaking Switzerland through documents (photos, videos, audio, historical texts) uploaded by users, telling everyday life in the past and the socio-economic-environmental transformation of these territories.

The idea

In 2021–22, we created five interactive thematic maps offering geographic itineraries across Italian-speaking Switzerland, linking the indicated places to the multimedia resources available on lanostraStoria.ch. The maps make it possible to explore the evolution of landscape, society, culture and the people who shaped the territory.

Production

The maps were produced as interactive PDFs, easy to open on any operating system and device. They include simple instructions, clean yet complete graphics for localisation, and clickable links to the relevant pages on lanostraStoria.ch where in-depth content is available.

Themes

The journeys proposed through the maps cover themes such as architecture and literature, as well as more popular topics like “bandelle”, sundials, and the arts and crafts of Italian-speaking Switzerland. The maps achieved an excellent response in terms of downloads, showing interest in a simple, intuitive way of telling history.
